Hey Fighters!

We've packed quite a punch in our latest update which will continue to help improve everyone’s experience on SquadBlast! Including the long awaited re-join feature, additional progression levels, a blinding new secondary weapon and something to tease you in the fighter selection!

Let’s have a gander at what’s coming up:

Quick-Join

That feature we've all been itching for in matchmaking and custom battles is finally here - the ability to jump into battles mid-match!

Now, if there's not enough players to kick off a new battle from the Main Menu, you can hop right into an ongoing match and make your mark.

In Custom Games, you can fire up a battle pronto and add players to your lobby on the fly. Fill up all 6 or 10 slots during the brawl, swap out bots, and dive straight into the next game with a full squad.

This tech unlocks a whole bunch of possibilities we're excited to explore down the road, like match-carry-over, multi-level matches, and other great ways to roll with your squad.

Air Resistance

With the new addition to the SquadBlast movement mechanics, air resistance will slow you down as you move at breakneck velocity speeds, adding a layer of challenge to your manoeuvres. It means you can't repeatedly slide-jump your way through everything anymore. Instead, you'll need real skill, combining different techniques to keep up your speed.

Stamina becomes crucial for maintaining momentum. This tweak might make gameplay a bit slower, which could be a relief for new players and newbies alike, who find it hard to keep up. It also makes players easier targets, so taking cover and using weapons wisely becomes more important. You can still pull off old tricks, but now you actually have to put in some effort to master them.

Progression

We've added a whopping 20 new main account progression levels, featuring two unique new frames to show your dedication and a lot more rewards.

From now on, once you hit the max level, that's it, no more leveling up. Before, you could keep piling up experience points, but now, once you're at the top, you're at the top. And to make it clear, we're gonna slap a big ol' "Max Level" label on the screen when you reach the current cap.

Weapons

Introducing a brand new grenade to the SquadBlast arsenal, the Dazzler!

Based on an old SunSpark stun grenade, this new and improved variant by Zhang packs a punch that leaves your enemies disoriented and confused for a short period.

As always, the Dazzler is available in sidearms crafting only and will be added to weapon cases in future updates.

UI Changes

  • Changes in custom lobbies to support new quick-join feature.

Other Changes

  • A certain new character has made an appearance in the loadout, albeit in unavailable state. Share your expectations and ideas on discord!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed UI animations for buttons on mobile

Update: 30th April 2024

We've listened to all your feedback about air resistance, and we get that it's not everyone's cup of tea. So, we've rolled out an update that completely removes air resistance. Now you can get back to enjoying SquadBlast just the way you like it – fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping action with no holds barred!

Thanks to everyone who helped test these changes during the PTS and previous update. And rest assured, we're already eyeing up more improvements for the future.
