oskar margolis
“we don’t do patience.”
Oskar Margolis was born into a family of well-to-do merchants who owned a small fleet of ships that carried raw materials and manufactured products around the world. When Oskar took over the company in 2022, this stupid young man was smart enough to hire a group of unscrupulous advisors who soon pushed the business into shady activities and other commercial areas.
The new exploitative practices yielded great profits, and what had been a respectable family owned shipping company turned into a huge mega-corporation known as MargoMart in a matter of years. Profits at MargoMart rose continuously, making the idiot Oskar Margolis one of the richest men in the world by the age of thirty, and a trillionaire by thirty-five.
By 2038 everybody in the world knew Oskar Margolis. The news was filled with reports of this ultra-rich sleazeball who flouted his wealth by frequently posting risqué videos that were shot aboard his mega-yacht during lavish parties filled with high-class escorts and Class B celebrities.
Margolis was particularly hated by the oppressed citizens of the world due to his company’s ownership of PubCell, a worldwide chain of private prisons and for-profit detention centers. PubCell clients were mainly dictators and corrupt governments, and the facilities specialized in the rapid neurological retraining of political dissidents and inconvenient journalists. Several failed assassination attempts by various outraged citizen activists in 2029 prompted Oskar to ask his advisors to build an impregnable refuge where he would be safe. They selected a remote site in the middle of the Amazonian rainforest and began construction of a private twin tower fortress that would effectively hide Margolis from an unappreciative public. But then several groups began to launch attacks on the tower complex, and finally, a group of armed social activists teamed with a well-meaning general with a private army. Bolstered by financial help from a wealthy computer game developer, the group managed to defeat Margolis’ security forces and take possession of the compound. Margolis survived the attack and reportedly fled to the safety of a friendly despot in Africa.
The sanctuary complex, now known as UltraHorse Towers serves as a base from which armed missions against exploiters and profiteers around the world are launched.
