UltraHorse was a highly successful game developer who decided to use their wealth to help the world. They have a large research laboratory in UltraHorse Towers and they run the Erythrium refinery plant that provides power to the whole complex.
UltraHorse researchers are studying Erythrium and have developed groundbreaking technologies that can be used for both military and civilian purposes. In exchange for their harvesting services, the gangs sometimes get rewarded with bits of the crystal tech that allow them to pursue their own goals.
UltraHorse claims to be working for the benefit of humankind's future but their plans are sometimes opaque and unclear.

UltraHorse Towers is the base of operations for the UltraHorse organisation, a safe refuge for the gangs who work with UltraHorse, and home to the large community that maintains all the systems and manages the many projects. The extensive compound is hidden deep in the middle of the Amazonian jungle and protected by a security system that includes cutting-edge sensors, response triggers and cloaking technology.
Initially built as secret refuge by the world’s richest man, Oskar Margolis, it was taken from him in 2041 in an assault operation by a ragtag force of UltraHorse operatives, mercenaries and activist gangs.
The compound is administered by UltraHorse, who cooperates with the gangs of armed fighters who go out on missions to gather Erythrium and missions to further positive social goals.

The new element Erythrium is now being refined to produce all of the energy that powers all of the systems in the UltraHorse Towers complex. As such, the need for harvesting new crystals continues, and a great many of the missions that go out from the compound go to collect crystals that have appeared somewhere in the world.
When Erythrium first began to appear, many people understood that it might be a possible new energy source that could replace fossil fuels, nuclear reactors, and nature-based methods such as solar, wind and wave collectors.
The UltraHorse complex is quite fortunate that to date, they are the only institution that has discovered how to both refine and use the energy from Erythrium. The jealous guarding of this information and technology is one of the many reasons that the UltraHorse complex has such an extensive security system. While several corporations and governments have put together research teams that are experimenting with the crystals, none of them has yet to yield any practical results.
Although Erythrium is currently used principally as an energy source, a number of other applications have been discovered, and new possibilities are constantly being researched in the Erythrium Laboratory in the UltraHorse complex. Some ability to transcend the known rules of physics has been discovered, and some weapon technology already employs crystal-tech developed by the laboratory. In addition, there have been promising early results and a great hope that Erythrium will prove to be useful in medicinal treatment programs.
